THIS IS THE RECORD CREST OF 35.4 FEET WHICH OCCURRED ON JULY 6...1994 WHEN TROPICAL STORM ALBERTO CAUSED 10 TO 13 INCHES OF RAINFALL AT AND UPSTREAM FROM MACON. THE LEVEE AT MACON WHICH IS NEAR 30 FEET WILL BREECH. FLOOD WATERS ENTER MANY HOMES AND BUSINESS IN AND NEAR MACON THAT ARE LOCATED BEHIND THE LEVEE. INTERSTATE 16 AND 75 WILL FLOOD IN MACON AND WILL BE CLOSED. |
33.0 | SERIOUS FLOODING OCCURS. MANY STREETS...BUSINESSES...AND HOMES FLOOD ALONG THE OCMULGEE RIVER IN AND NEAR MACON. MAJOR ROADS ARE FLOODED AND CLOSED. INTERSTATE 16 AND 75 WILL FLOOD IN MACON. EVACUATIONS ARE REQUIRED! |
30.0 | MAJOR FLOODING BEGINS. THE LEVEE IN MACON WILL BE TOPPED. WATER WILL QUICKLY FILL MANY STREETS INCLUDING MLK...FIFTH STREET...AND RIVERSIDE. THE OCMULGEE HERITAGE TRAIL BASEBALL COMPLEX FLOODS. MANY HOMES AND BUSINESSES ALONG THE RIVER WILL FLOOD INCLUDING THE MACON TELEGRAPH. SANDBAG EFFORTS ARE NEEDED. INTERSTATE 16 AND 75 WILL BEGIN TO EXPERIENCE FLOODING ESPECIALLY AT ON AND OFF RAMPS IN MACON. EVACUATIONS ARE REQUIRED IMMEDIATELY! |

26.0 | MODERATE FLOODING BEGINS. PRIVATE LEVEES WHICH PROTECT BURNS BRICK COMPANY AND CHEROKEE BRICK AND TILE COMPANY WILL BEGIN TO OVERTOP. WATER BEGINS TO ENTER FLOORS OF A FEW BUSINESSES. SOUTHERN RAILROAD TRACKS ALSO BECOME INUNDATED. |
